It's National Pie Day...
And here in Northern Oregon, it's blue skies and sunshine all the way 😎There hasn't been a day in the past three-plus decades when I haven't thought about or been inspired by David Lynch. I started watching Twin Peaks when the pilot aired as a 13-year-old 8th grader. I remember seeing all the marketing leading up to it, and I was fascinated. Living in Southern California, I was OBSESSED with the PNW, which started at an early age. We had traveled on several vacations as a family to Oregon and Washington to visit relatives, and I always loved the rugged woods and streams. I fell in love with Seattle when I was a nine-year-old visiting my aunt and uncle. I knew at that age I had to be there. So a few years later, seeing those majestic Douglas firs make their debut on my Southern California screen, I felt transported to a place I belonged. I digress, as the rest is history for another day.
David Lynch had a way of putting everyday things into a light that I'd never seen. Things like... PIE. I loved pie but I'd never really seen anyone in my life put such an emphasis on it! As for Coffee, that's another thing. I grew up around two grandparents who seemed to have coffee running through their veins.
This past week has been a rough one. But also beautiful, watching just how many lives David Lynch touched. From Celebrities to everyday people like Me, he saved lives and inspired life. And will continue to with the indelible mark he has left on the World.
So today (and every day), I say, be sure to create something. I will be keeping David Keith Lynch alive in my life as long as I live and will be forever grateful to have been alive at a time he he was creating magic for us all to live and see.
Until next time, take care and be good to each other.
XO,
C
